In March of 2010 Elena Ragozhina, Olga Makharinskiy and Karina Baldry established a new Charity called Chance for Life. The idea behind Chance for Life is to create a bridge and provide additional assistance to several charitable organisations supporting orphanages in Russia.

Elena Ragozhina and Olga Makharinsky have been Directors of Diema’s Dream Charitable Foundation for many years. The Charity was founded by Mary Dudley, and over the years it has done an incredible job in helping children in Moscow’s Orphanage Number 8, providing them with much-needed care and medical assistance. Diema’s Dream Charitable Foundation has also established a Day Centre for disabled children in two provincial towns. In new project our long-time friend and supporter, Karine Baldry, joins us as a third Director of the Charity.

Chance for Life have decided to host the first fundraising event A Spring Ball on Friday, 30 April 2010.

We recently met a wonderful woman by the name of Maria Eliseeva who founded Maria’s Children Arts Rehabilitation Centre 16 years ago. Maria has devoted her life to helping orphans, and fosters seven children as well as caring for her own five daughters. Three hundred children from v arious Moscow orphanages attend classes at Maria’s Centre where they are taught, among other things, skills such as drawing, cooking and music. She also helps older children pursue further education to gain professional qualifications.
The Spring Ball promises to be a memorable and fun-packed occasion, and funds raised during the evening will help Maria arrange the children’s 2010 Summer Camp, purchase a mini-bakery, and, most importantly, fund educational programmes for the youngsters leaving the orphanages this year. Maria herself will be attending the Ball.
